Metamorphosis

The Encounter of Two Cultures

At Gallery Song Dynasty I blend the refined aesthetics of the Chinese Song Dynasty with a distinct modern Western influence. Each painting is a personal interpretation of this cultural fusion, bringing tradition and contemporary expression together on a single canvas. The result is a timeless visual language that bridges two worlds.

Beginning her practice at the age of eight with brush and rice paper, the artist was shaped by the refined aesthetics of the Song Dynasty, whose legacy continues to inform her work.

A formative journey at 24 aboard the Orient Express through Siberia marked a pivotal expansion of her worldview, deepening her pursuit of artistic and personal independence.

A decisive turning point came during the COVID period, when a final encounter with a 92-year-old professor introduced her to Western art. This moment catalyzed a lasting transformation in her artistic direction.

Her practice has since evolved into a focused exploration of abstraction. Traditional Chinese visual language persists within her work, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.

Across her canvases, Eastern and Western influences converge, as tradition enters into dialogue with modernity.
